Third-party services we use
- Supabase — authentication and database storage
- TMDB — movie and TV metadata, images, and streaming availability
- IP geolocation and browser locale — approximate country detection
- Lovable (or our current hosting provider) — hosting and deployment
- Google sign-in — when you choose to sign in with Google
Google sign-in
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares a limited set of profile information with us: your email address, your name, your Google account ID, and (if available) your avatar image. We use this only to create and identify your account. We do not receive your Google password, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data. Google itself will see that you used your Google account to sign in to What's on Next; their use of that information is governed by Google's privacy policy.
IP address, country detection, and hosting logs
Like most web apps, our hosting and database providers (currently Lovable, Cloudflare, and Supabase) automatically record standard request logs when you use the app. These logs typically include your IP address, browser/device user agent, the URL requested, and a timestamp. They are retained for a short period and used to keep the service running, prevent abuse, and debug problems.
We use your IP address and/or browser locale to estimate your country so we can show you the right streaming providers (for example, Netflix UK vs Netflix US). If you confirm your country during onboarding, that country is saved to your profile. We do not store your IP address in your profile, and we do not attempt to determine your precise location.
App activity and analytics
We record a small set of in-app events — for example, completing onboarding, opening Discover, rating a title, viewing Matches, or opening Watch Tonight — together with a timestamp and your user ID. This helps us understand which parts of the app are working, fix bugs, and improve recommendations. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
We do not sell your data
What's on Next does not sell your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.
Account and data deletion
You can request deletion of your account or your data at any time by emailing us at whatsonnextapp@gmail.com. We will remove your account and associated data within a reasonable period, unless we are required to keep certain records for legal or security reasons.
When you delete your account, the following are removed:
- Your login record (email and authentication identifiers)
- Your profile (display name, avatar, country, languages, top movies/shows, connect code)
- Your ratings and watch history
- Your streaming service selections
- Your connections with other users
- Your in-app activity events
Shared movie/TV catalog data (titles, posters, cast, etc.) is not personal to you and is kept. Short-term hosting logs (such as IP addresses in request logs) age out on the provider's normal retention schedule.
Children
What's on Next is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
